Please review the pre- and post-treatment guidelines for your upcoming procedure to ensure the best possible results.

Before & After Treatment Instructions

Before Your Appointment

To optimize your results and minimize the risk of bruising or complications, please follow these guidelines:

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (including aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and ginkgo) for 5–7 days prior to treatment, with approval from your prescribing provider(s)
  • Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup or skincare products in the treatment area
  • Inform your provider if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any history of neuromuscular conditions

After Your Treatment

Proper aftercare supports optimal results and reduces the risk of unwanted side effects:

  • Remain upright for at least 4 hours following your treatment
  • Avoid touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to treated areas for 24 hours
  • Refrain from strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, or excessive heat exposure for 24 hours
  • Avoid facials, massage, or advanced skincare treatments (including lasers and chemical peels) for 1–2 weeks

Results typically begin to appear within 3–5 days, with full results developing over 10–14 days.

Before Your Appointment

To help minimize swelling and bruising:

  • Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours prior to treatment
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (including aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and ginkgo) for 5–7 days prior, with approval from your prescribing provider(s)
  • Schedule dental work, vaccinations, or other invasive procedures at least 2 weeks before or after your appointment
  • Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup or skincare products in the treatment area
  • Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores, as antiviral prophylaxis may be recommended

After Your Treatment

Temporary swelling, redness, and bruising are common and expected:

  • Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated areas for at least 24 hours unless instructed otherwise
  • Refrain from strenuous exercise, alcohol, and heat exposure for 24–48 hours
  • Sleep with your head elevated the first night to help reduce swelling
  • Avoid facials, massage, or other facial treatments for at least 2 weeks

Results are visible immediately, with final results settling over 1–2 weeks.

Before Your Appointment

To prepare for treatment and reduce the risk of bruising:

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to treatment
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements (including aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, and ginkgo) for 5–7 days prior, with approval from your prescribing provider(s)
  • Plan your schedule accordingly, as swelling following treatment is expected and may be significant
  • Arrive with a clean neck/jawline area free of makeup, lotions, or skincare products
  • Inform your provider of any history of difficulty swallowing, prior neck surgery, or medical conditions in the treatment area

After Your Treatment

Swelling and tenderness are expected and part of the treatment process:

  • Expect moderate to significant swelling, firmness, tenderness, and possible bruising for several days to weeks
  • Apply ice packs intermittently for the first 24–48 hours as tolerated
  • Sleep with your head elevated for the first few nights
  • Avoid strenuous activity and excessive heat for 24–48 hours

Gradual improvement occurs over several weeks as the body metabolizes treated fat cells.

After Your Treatment

These treatments stimulate collagen production over time, with gradual, natural-looking results:

  • Apply ice as needed for swelling or discomfort
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, and heat exposure for 24 hours
  • Avoid facials, massage, or advanced skincare treatments for at least 1–2 weeks

For Sculptra® treatments: Follow the "5-5-5 rule": massage treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days

Results develop progressively over several weeks to months as collagen production increases.

Before Your Appointment

To prepare your skin and ensure safe treatment:

  • Arrive with a clean face, free of makeup, sunscreen, or skincare products
  • Avoid retinoids, tretinoin, and exfoliating products for 3–5 days prior
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure or sunburn prior to treatment
  • Inform your provider of any active skin infections, acne breakouts, or use of isotretinoin within the past 6 months

After Your Treatment

Your skin may appear red and feel similar to a mild sunburn immediately following treatment:

  • Avoid touching your face unnecessarily for the first 24 hours
  • Do not apply makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment
  • Avoid sun exposure, sweating, and heat (including saunas and hot tubs) for 24–48 hours
  • Use only gentle skincare and a recommended moisturizer for the first few days
  • Apply broad-spectrum SPF daily once skin begins to recover

Mild redness, dryness, and flaking may occur and typically resolve within a few days. Results improve over time as collagen production increases.
